Kolunu hafifçe kaldırdı, elini arkaya attı ve yüzüme doğru savurdu. Bir gözkırpışı kadar hızlı oldu hepsi, farkettiğimde şaşkınlıkla hafifçe ağzımı açacak kadar zamanım oldu sadece. Yüzüme düşen tokatla yüksekçe bir ses çıktı, bir an hiçbirşey hissetmedim, şoktan sanırım. Sonra çenemin altından sağ yanağıma doğru bir alev yükseldi, yavaşça. Ateşe tutulmuşçasına yanmaya başladı yüzüm. Sıcaklık yüzümde yerleştikçe gözyaşları doldu gözlerime, halbuki onun önünde ağlamak istemiyordum. Ama durmadı gözyaşlarım, yanağımı avutmak istercesine aktılar gözlerimden. Tek yapabileceğim şey, o sonbahar sabahı genelde öpüşerek ayrıldığımız köşede sert bir dönüşle sırtımı dönüp yürümek oldu evime doğru. Durmadı bir süre ıslak gözlerim, durdurmaya gerek de duymadım. Herşeye rağmen sonbaharın, yağmur kokusunun ve düşmüş yaprakların keyfine vararak evin yolundan yavaşça yürüdüm. Yüzümün yanması geçmiş tüm o acıtan his beynime dolmuştu busefer. Düşünmemeye çalıştım, nekadar zor olduğunu bilerek zorladım kendimi. Kapalı alana girmek istemedğimden genelde insanlarla dolu olan cami avlusuna gittim, bankta yer bulma umuduyla. Ama kimse yoktu, sanki biliyorlardı benim yalnız kalmak isteyeceğimi.
